BITS Pilani has formalized a partnership with IISc Bengaluru. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. BITS Pilani IISc collaboration aims to boost scientific research and education.

Areas of Collaboration

The MoU outlines several areas for cooperation:

  • Both institutions will work together on research initiatives.
  • The team will organize symposia and workshops.
  • New programs will be co-developed across UG, PG, and PhD levels.
  • BITS Pilani researchers will access IISc’s advanced facilities, including the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE).
  • Opportunities for movement between institutions will be created.

This partnership also focuses on intellectual property (IP) management. It ensures that jointly developed innovations receive proper protection. Furthermore, the institutions will collaborate to secure research funding and publish findings. This will contribute to India’s academic and industrial progress.

Leaders’ Statements for BITS Pilani IISc Collaboration

Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Vice Chancellor, BITS Pilani, commented on the agreement. He stated, “This partnership with IISc marks a significant milestone in our journey toward academic and research excellence. By combining the strengths of both institutions, we aim to address critical challenges in science and technology while nurturing a new generation of innovators and researchers.”

Prof. Govindan Rangarajan, Director, IISc, Bengaluru, added, “Collaborations like this are essential to drive impactful research and innovation. We are excited to create opportunities for knowledge exchange and to jointly contribute to solving some of the most pressing scientific and societal challenges.”

The signing ceremony saw the presence of key officials from both institutions, including Prof. Suman Kundu, Director, BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus, and other faculty members from BITS Pilani and IISc.
