BITS Pilani Seeks Alumni Help For Job Placements Amid Hiring Slowdown

BITS Pilani Placements

Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, a premier Indian institute, is seeking assistance from its alumni network to aid job placements for the post-2023 graduating batch.

This request comes amid a challenging job market scenario. A social media post by an alumnus highlights a notice circulated by BITS Pilani acknowledging the current industry downturn’s impact on businesses and hiring. The notice specifically mentions the technology sector, which has witnessed significant layoffs – around 4 lakh globally since January 2022.

Despite facing these adverse circumstances, BITS Pilani managed a placements rate of 89.2% for Indian campuses in the academic year 2022-23. However, the notice acknowledges a further deepening of the hiring slowdown since then.

The alumnus’ post has generated discussion online, with some users pointing out similar challenges at other top colleges like IIMs and IITs. This highlights the wider impact of the current employment situation.

While the extent of alumni assistance required remains unclear, this move by BITS Pilani underscores the evolving job market landscape and the increasing efforts needed to secure placements for graduates.
