BITS Pilani’s endowment fund has grown thanks to an ₹8.40 crore donation from two former students. This money forms part of the planned $100 million fund, which aims to boost the institution’s growth and spark new ideas.
The donors, a married couple who’ve started several businesses now live in the UAE. Ravinder Kumar Bhat, who graduated in 1978, and Sumita Desarkar, from the class of 1981, gave the money under the ‘Sumita Desarkar & Ravinder K. Bhat Fund for Institutional Development’. “BITS Pilani played an important role in shaping our personal and work lives. We want to give back to the Institute that helped us succeed,” they said.
