Infosys has recently layoffs of 240 trainees. This action follows a similar layoff of over 300 trainees in February. The company cited its failure to meet the qualifying criteria in the ‘Generic foundation training program’. This information comes directly from company emails sent on April 18th.

The email stated that despite “additional preparation time, doubt-clearing sessions, several mock assessments, and three attempts,” the trainees did not meet the required standards. Consequently, they could not continue their apprenticeship program.

However, Infosys is offering support to the affected individuals. These include:

  • Free Upskilling Programs: In collaboration with NIIT and UpGrad, Infosys provides training for roles in the BPM industry or IT fundamentals.
  • Outplacement Services: Professional services are planned to assist trainees in their job search outside Infosys.
  • Potential Opportunities: Upon successful completion of BPM training, trainees can apply for roles at Infosys BPM Limited.

Furthermore, the separation package for the Infosys layoffs trainees includes:

  • One month’s pay as ex gratia.
  • A relieving letter.
  • Outplacement services for career support.
  • Options for a 12-week BPM training or a 24-week IT fundamentals program.
  • Transport assistance from Mysore to Bangalore and a travel allowance to their hometown.
  • Accommodation in Mysore until their departure.
  • Counselling support as needed.

This move by Infosys highlights the importance of meeting performance benchmarks during their training programs. The company’s provision of outplacement services and upskilling opportunities demonstrates an effort to support those affected by the recent layoffs
