An Indian businessman and chairman of Bharat Forge, Baba Kalyani family dispute over the will of his late mother. His younger brother Gaurishankar Kalyani and the heirs of his sister Sugandha Hiremath are arrayed against him in the battle.
Alumni of BITS Pilani, Kalyani has made Bharat Forge a leader in the world automotive component industry. With a market capitalization standing at Rs 36,300 crore. A family feud has overshadowed his success.
The issue is over sharing of their mother’s significant estate consisting of valuables and shares in the Kalyani Group. Baba Kalyani and Gaurishankar Kalyani have filed two conflicting wills proposing different plans for dividing the estate.
The case further becomes complicated with claims of a one-ninth share by Sugandha Hiremath’s heirs in the Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) assets of the family. Baba Kalyani and Gaurishankar dispute. They claim that their niece and nephew have no right at all to any part of these assets.
The heated legal battles are engulfing the Kalyani family. As the case progresses, the fate of the Kalyani Group hangs in the balance. The resolution of the dispute and its subsequent impact on the company remain unknown.
