Uttar Pradesh is set to integrate Vedic Mathematics into NCERT textbooks. This initiative targets classes 6 to 8 in government schools. It aligns the curriculum with regional educational priorities.

Officials from the basic education department confirmed this move. The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Uttar Pradesh, issued formal instructions. Experts from Prayagraj’s State Institute of Science Education (SISE) will oversee implementation.

Over 30 lakh students will benefit. These are students in government-run upper primary and composite schools across Uttar Pradesh.

The goal is a holistic education. It will blend modern mathematical concepts with Vedic Mathematics. India’s knowledge traditions form the deep roots of this system.

SISE director Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi spoke on the initiative. He stated, “We are upgrading the NCERT textbooks to integrate Vedic Mathematics. This will help students connect with India’s intellectual heritage while strengthening their mathematical aptitude.”

The current NCERT mathematics book, Ganit Prakash, lacks Vedic Mathematics content. Similarly, Ganit Manthan textbooks, used under the UP Basic Education Board, have limited references. These gaps will now be addressed. Revisions will be made in both Hindi and English medium textbooks.

Furthermore, SISE experts will prepare model papers. They will create 25 model papers each for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. These are for Science stream students in Classes 11 and 12 affiliated with the UP Board. This is the first time the institute is responsible for Class 11 and 12 question papers.
