7 Things You Didn’t Know About the Indian Constitution

The Indian Constitution is the longest written constitution in the world. It originally had 395 Articles, 22 parts, and 8 schedules.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is known as the Father of the Indian Constitution. He played a key role as the Chairman of the Drafting Committee.

It took 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days to draft the Indian Constitution. It was adopted on 26 November 1949, not 26 January!

The Indian Constitution was handwritten in Hindi and English, not typed or printed. The original copies are preserved in helium-filled cases.

It borrows from more than 10 countries, including the US (Fundamental Rights), UK (Parliamentary system), and Ireland (Directive Principles).

The Constitution can be amended, and as of now, there have been over 100 amendments—showing how it's designed to evolve with time.

India is a Republic, not a Monarchy, because of the Constitution. It guarantees equality, freedom, and justice for every citizen.
